Mrs. Janie Broadwell Clements Shipp, 82, passed away right before sunrise Tuesday morning, October 8, 2013 at her home. She was born in Durham Co. to the late Herman Winston Broadwell and the late Hilda Ellis Broadwell.

She was also predeceased by her husbands, "Sonny Buck" Clements Sr. and Maurice H. Shipp; and a son, William Ralph Clements Jr.

Janie was a charter member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. She was an active member of the Agape Sunday School Class and JOY Club. She retired, after 29 years, from Durham Public Schools as a media clerk.

Mrs. Shipp is survived by her daughters, Dianne Stephenson (Alan), Susan Clements (Maggi); sons, Mark Clements (Debbie), Kirk Clements (Candy); step-daughter, Pamela Bass (Steve); step-son, Joey Shipp; six grandchildren, three step grandchildren, six great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a large extended family.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Dr. Marc Francis, Mr. Carl Tart and Pastor Ernest Ferrell officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
