C.W. Vogel Dies
Pneumonia Fatal To Well Known Steel Worker
Christian W. Vogel, former resident of Youngstown and steel worker, died at 1 a.m. Monday at Central clinic, Salem, after a week's illness. Death was due to pneumonia.
Mr. Vogel was born in the North Side, Pittsburg, a son of Henry and Anna Vogel and was employed from young manhood in the steel mills of the Pittsburg district. Coming to Youngstown about 22 years ago to accept a place s turn foreman at the Bessemer plant of the Republic Iron & Steel Co., he remained here until the fall of 1919 when he engaged in the genral merchandise business at Dungannon, Columbiana county. He enjoyed a wide acquaintance amoung steel workers and in frateral circles.
He married Miss Mary E. Reilly, Aug. 31, 1919. He was an accomplished pianist and chorus singer, having taken part in many public musical and operatic events in Youngstown as well as having been a member of the choir of St. Joseph's church and a participant in choir work in other churches here.
Besides his widow he is survived by two brothers, John and Joseph of Pittsburg and two sisters, Mrs. Theodore Glasser of Donora, Pa., and Mrs. Teresa Hermann of McKeesport. The body has been brought to the home of Capt. and Mrs. C.M. Reilly, 1327 Ohio and the funeral will take place at St. Joseph's church at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Former Local Man Passes Away in Salem
Christian W. Vogel, for many years a resident of this city, died at 1 a.m. today at the Central Clinic, Salem, of pneumonia.
Mr. Vogel was born in Pittsburgh about 50 years ago, the son of Henry and Anna Vogel. He came here 22 years ago, and was turn foreman at the Bessemer plant of the Republic Iron & Steel until he moved from here in 1919. He went to Dungannon, Columbiana county, where he kept a general store.
He was married on August 31, 1910 to Miss Mary E. Reilly, who survives.
Mr. Vogel was a talented singer and pianist, and was a member of St. Joseph's choir for many years.
The remains were brought to this city, to the home of Captain and Mrs. T.M. Reilly, 1327 Ohio ave., this morning. Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Wednesday from St. Joseph's church.
