He later came to Montana, where he was employed by Great Northern Railway until his retirement. He was married to (Mary Lee) on September 30, 1905. He was survived by his wife, Mary; one daughter; two foster daughters; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one brother. Gustave passed away on April 3, 1957 in Kalispell, Montana.
