JEROME — Joyce Pearl Flynn, 74, of Jerome, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013.

She was born Jan. 11, 1939 in Gooding, Idaho, the daughter of William Darius Shurtz and Clara Pearl Allen Shurtz. Joyce was raised in Gooding and Jerome. She married Earl Collins and they had two sons, Eddie and Dennis. They were later divorced. On Oct. 24, 1959, she married John T. Flynn. They had three sons, Duane, Randy and Rick. John and Joyce settled in Jerome, where they raised their five sons. Joyce was a devoted wife and mother and always put her family first. She loved to go camping and fishing and she was an accomplished baker. Mostly she loved caring for her sons and other family members and dedicated her life to them.

Joyce is survived by five sons: Eddie Collins, Dennis (Jerrette Miller) Collins and Duane Flynn, all of Twin Falls, and Randy Flynn and Rick Flynn, both of Jerome; one brother, Buzz (Karleen) Shurtz of Washougal, Wash.; one sister, Shirley Ordaz of Richfield; one grandson, Adam Flynn; two great-grandchildren, Dylen Culver and Katy Alexander; and many extended family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; two brothers; and four sisters.

A visitation will be held Sunday evening, Oct. 13, at Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 S. Lincoln in Jerome, where family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, at the Jerome LDS 2nd Ward Chapel, 50 E. 100 S. of Jerome, with Bishop Norm Kump officiating. A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Jerome Cemetery
