REMSEN - George H. Abbey, 69, of RD 1, Box 233, died August 30, in the Veteran's Hospital, Syracuse, where he had been a patient since July 21.
He was born March 5, 1917, the son of Roy C. and Ann Powell Abbey in Constableville. He was educated in Constableville Schools.
Mr. Abbey was a foreman for Bundy Concrete, retiring in 1982. Mr. Abbey served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre, receiving a Purple Heart on September 23, 1944.
He was married to the former Thea Landman Bretheuer on October 4, 1969, in Barneveld, NY.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association.
Surviving, besides his wife, is a son, George H. Abbey, Jr., of Remsen; a stepson, Harry Landman, of Remsen; a daughter, Mrs. Georjean Austin, of Vernon, NY; and a sister, Mrs. Jane Brown, of Lowville; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in Carmichael Hill Cemetery. Utica Daily Press, Monday, September 1, 1986
