Retired U. S. Air Force Technical Sergeant James Carl Tenpenny Sr., of Route 12, died of an extended illness in River Park Hospital at 4 p. m. Saturday at the age of 74.
A native of Tennessee, he was a member of Bates Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Married to the former Mary Jane Jordan, he was the son of the late Charlie Darty and Lula Bell (Stroud) Tenpenny.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by son and daughter James C. Tenpenny and Carolyn Emmons of McMinnville, sister Flora Phillips of Huntsville, Ala., brother George Tenpenny of Centertown, and three grandchildren.
Lon Broyles will conduct services in the chapel of High Funeral Home at 2 p. m. Monday, VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173 will render military honors in Centertown Cemetery.
