Rev. Wayne Greathouse, 78, born June 20, 1935 in LaFayette, AL, took his heavenly flight on Sunday October 6, 2013, at 11:15 p.m.

Funeral services are planned for Wednesday, October 9, at 2 PM EST at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Revs. Jimmy Greathouse and Henry Dawson will officiate. Graveside services will be held at Rest Haven Cemetery.

Rev. Greathouse is survived by his wife of 54 years, Annette Pitts Greathouse; daughter Roxanne (Sherman) Watts of Oxford, AL; two sons, Jonathan (Karla) Greathouse and Micah (Lynn) Greathouse of Valley; seven grandchildren, Sunnie (Chase) Cotton of Anniston, Joshua Norris of Oxford, Mackenzie (Courtney) Greathouse and Taylor Greathouse, both of LaGrange, GA, Jeffery Greathouse, Brandon Greathouse and Erica Greathouse, all of Valley; one great-grandchild, Colton Greathouse; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by this parents Walter Greathouse, Lela Jarrell Greathouse Elder, and stepfather Dewey Elder; brothers Ronnie Greathouse and Gary Elder.

Rev. Greathouse's ministry included pastoring churches at Northside Baptish Church in West Point, GA (24 years), Ironman Baptist church in Hartselle, AL, Calvary Baptist Church in Tallassee, AL (ministered two terms for a total of eight years), Winston Drive Baptist Church in Memphis, TN, Riverside Heights Baptist Church in Tallassee, AL, Calvary Baptist Church in Cottonwood, AL, and Central Baptist Church in Lanett, AL.

His missions and revival ministry include Zimbabwe, Africa-Belize, Central America-Phillipines, Thailand, Trinidad, and West Indies (two trips). Revivals include 156 revivals preached, crusades, tent meetings, mission conferences, and Bible conferences. Taught two years of Bible College.

Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home, Valley, will be in charge of arrangements.
