Samuel Sheldon Stephens, a resident of Rice township for many years, passed away at his home at 2:30 a.m. Friday, October 14, 1932. Mr. Stephens has been in poor health for several years and for the last year had suffered continually.
Mr. Stephens was born in Green county, Pennsylvania, January 11, 1868, and was 70 years, nine months and three days old at the time of his death. He came to Clinton township, Ringgold county, Iowa, at the age of nineteen and lived there until the fall of 1891, when he purchased the home in Rice township where he resided until his death with the exception of one year spent in Mount Ayr.
He was united in marriage to Harlie M. Abarr September 11, 1890. To this union one son, Orr B., was born and who died in infancy.
In early life he united with the Baptist church in Green county, Pennsylvania, later transferring his membership to the Delphos Baptist church, of which he was a member at the time of his death.

He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and a host of relatives and friends.
