William Samuel Terry was born to George and Elizabeth Clark Terry in Stone Mountain district of DeKalb County, Atlanta, Ga. Mar 31, 1855. Family removed to southwest Arkansas before 1861 as his father served in the Confederate Army 1861-1865. Sometime in the mid-1870's William traveled to Ft. Worth, Tx to drive a freight wagon, saved up some money and returned home by 1880. the money that he saved he bought a lot downtown Hope Ark and a tent, and created an outside cafe, he later traded the cafe and lot for land and returned to farming. 1894 he married Lucy Settie Hargis and started his family and farming until his death Dec 23, 1924. He was survived by wife and 7 children.
