Joseph Deuce Diorio, 84, of Bangor died Wednesday October 3, 2007, in St. Lukes Hospital, Fountain Hill. Born May 13, 1923, in Wellsboro, W. Va., a son of the late Daniel and Carmella DeFranco Diorio. He and his wife, the former Grace Pagano were married 58 years last October. He owned and operated the former Bangor Blouse Company for more than 40 years, retiring in 1988. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and beloved PopPop. He was a 1941 graduate of Bangor High where he was captain of the football team. He served in the Army during World War II he received a purple heart for injuries while serving in France. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Roseto. Joseph was a charter and life member of the Bangor Lions Club, a life member and past commander of the Martocci Capobianco of the American Legion Post 750 of Roseto, a member of the Bangor Elks 1106 a member of the Slate Belt Knights of Columbus Council 3862 a member of the Marconi Club of Roseto and former member of the Roseto Chapter of U.N.I.C.O. He also served on the Bangor School Board. Survivors: His wife Grace, he is survived by three sons, Donato, and his wife Mary Paula Diorio, of West Islip, N.Y., Martin and his wife Libby Diorio of Stroudsburg, Joseph E. and his wife Liane Diorio of Bangor; a sister Gilda Catino of Bangor; seven grandchildren Danielle Diorio Gilmore, Paul, Luke, Gregory, Julie, Cara and Daniel Diorio; great-granddaughters Lily and Lia Gilmore. Predeceased by a sister, Pearl Morgan.
