Private Abia C. E. Miller, a tinsmith from West Chester, Pa. Enlisted at age 19 on Sept. 23, 1861 for 3 yrs. In Company H, 97th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. On February 6, 1863 he was detailed upon duty in United States Signal Corps., and returned to his company in February, 1864. He reenlisted as a veteran on March 16, 1864, to date Feb. 29, 1864 at Fernandina, Florida. He was wounded in the right shoulder in the action at Green Plains, Bermuda Hundred., Va., on May 20, 1864; and was absent at muster out on account of wounds and was discharged at Satterlee Hospital, Philadelphia.
