Enlisted at age 37 on May 30, 1861 for three years in Company A, 12th Ohio Infantry. Discharged Dec.1, 1862 for wounds received at Battle of South Mountain Md., Sept. 14, 1862.

Severely wounded in right leg, amputated.

Company A & F recruited from Warren County Ohio. Co. A from Morrow area, & F from Lebanon area.

Married Sarah Wakefield as her second husband in Clinton County, Ohio 27 March, 1854.
