She was the wife of Judge James William Penn.

The obituary for Susan "Sue" M. Buck Penn was published in "The Gadsden Times"; newspaper; Gadsden, Etowah County, Alabama: Wed. March 31, 1965

PENN, Mrs. Sue M., 420 Turrentine Avenue, passed away at a local hospital Wednesday at 4:15 a.m. after an extended illness.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Myron Hawkins, Gadsden, and Mrs. A.G. Shirley, Pearisburg, Va.; one son, Richard Penn, Gadsden; one sister, Mrs. Ray Fonde, Mobile; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held from Collier-Butler Chapel Thursday at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. John Speaks officiating.

Interment will be in Forrest Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Robert Loveman, Ed Frist, Frank Martin, E.C. Cross, A.W. Ralls, John Ezell, Algeri Agricola, Harold Frist, Robert Reich, Alston Paden Green.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. John B. Bass, Dr. Scott Vance, Dr. John T. Shepard, Dr. Ragan Lonnergan, Cooper Wadsworth, Adolph Reich, John Barlow, Clarence Inzer, Dr. H.T. Wells, Newman Nowlin, G. G. Bloom, and all other personal friends.

Mrs. Penn was a native of Mobile, and a resident of Gadsden most of her life. She was the wife of the late Judge J.W. Penn and was a member of the Church of the Holy Comforter.

The body will remain at Collier-Butler Chapel through the hour of service.
