A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton with Rev. Brent Price and Nathan May officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM tonight at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Carpenter was born in Lincoln County and was the son of the late John and Mattie Leona Brown Carpenter. He was a retired Regional Maintenance Technician for Suburban Propane where he worked for 42 years. He was also a WWII Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by five brothers, John, Raymond, Everette, Louis, and Wade Carpenter; and two sisters, Pauline Wylie and Margaret Kiser.
Survivors are his wife, Dorothy Foster Carpenter; three sons, Alvin M. Carpenter, Jr. and daughter-in-law Debbie of Statesville, David W. Carpenter and daughter-in-law Sheila of Lincolnton and Mark Alan Carpenter and daughter-in-law Dana of Gastonia; one daughter, Leona C. Ormand and son-in-law Mike of Lincolnton; 10 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
