First Lieutenant Sullivan was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was the navigator of a B-26B Invader bomber with the 13th Bomber Squadron, 3rd Bomber Group. On February 21, 1952, during a night intruder mission in the Kumchon area, contact with his plane was lost and he was listed as Missing in Action. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953.
