Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday, and she insisted on doing all the cooking herself. Being very patriotic, she flew an American flag from a flagpole, moving it from Jasper, where she had previously lived. She also loved her dogs Bo and Sadie and her cats Simon and Brandy.
Preceding her in death were her parents, one son, and five brothers: Bruce Cockrell, H. F. Cockrell, Marvin Cockrell, John F. Cockrell, and George Cockrell, all of Arkansas.
