They spent most of their lives in Minot, North Dakota where Hilbert was employed in railroad work. They moved to Bigfork in 1960 and after Hilbert passed away in 1965 Amelia later moved to Kalispell. She was survived by a son; a daughter;a brother; a sister; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Amelia passed away on May 30, 1984 in the Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell, Montana.
