Elmira M. Senff-Greenup was born 4 Nov 1866, probably in Stark Co. Ohio. (Some sources listed her birth place as Indiana). Parents were William B. & Eliza (Schlicter) Senff.
Elmira moved west with her parents and siblings. From Indiana they moved to Howard Co., IA. From there they moved to Motley, MN.
Elmira married Benjamin "Frank" Franklin Greenup on 20 Apr 1882 in Cass Co., MN.
Elmira and Franks first 4 children were born in the Motley-Gull River, Cass Co., MN area. Then the family moved to Grand Prairie Twp., Barnes Co., ND, where they had 4 more children. Elmira died 6 Jun 1903 on their farm, when her youngest child, LeRoy was only 2 1/12 yrs. old.
She was buried in Morton Cemetery, near their farm, and Funeral Services were held at the Free Methodist Church with Rev. W.S. Ballinger officiating. Franks father was a Methodist Minister.
Elmira was survived by her husband, Frank, her children: Emma May (Daniel Hurd)Greenup, George Edwin (Ethel Wellwood) Greenup, Charles Benjamin Greenup, William Harry (Olive Bales) Greenup, Clara Jane (Henry Chowen) Greenup, Frances Grace (William H. Beach) Greenup, Edith Belle (Nathaniel I. Kingsbury) Greenup, Ernest Grant (Angeline Spivey) Greenup, Lucy Ann (William Scott)Greenup, and LeRoy Frank (Edna Graves) Greenup. The only one of these children who was married at the time of their mothers death was Emma, the eldest. She was also survived by her brothers, William Sherman (Nora) Senff of Blaine, WA, and Charles Edward (Lydia) Senff, of Barnes Co. ND.
Preceding her in death were here parents, William B. & Eliza A. Senff; siblings: Sarah Jane, Clara, Mavill, Lilly May, and Solomon B. Senff.
Elmiras youngest son, Leroy was reared by his Aunt and Uncle Israel & Julia (Greenup) Peck. Son Charles Benjamin, known as Bennie, disappeared after his mother died. He was said to have joined the Salvation Army. He was only known to have been heard from a couple times and his fate is unknown.
