OBITUARY: The Mobile Press-Register, Mobile AL, 24 Sep 2013
Vincent Rowell Burns, son of Annetta Rowell Burns and William Timothy Burns passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at a local nursing home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Andrew Stephen Burns, his brothers, sisters and their spouses, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
After his formative years he lived in NYC with his oldest brother Captain Bertram Holyoke Burns, his wife and their children. Vincent joined the Conservation Conservative Corps and was stationed in Yellowstone National Park. After his tour of duty, he joined the Air Army Corps currently known as the United States Air Force. He worked his way up in the ranks and retired as an Officer after 32 years of service with many awards. Vincent never lost his Irish humor. Vincent was one of the organizers of the Red Elephant Club of the University of Alabama under the direction of Dr. Marion Dodson, Coach Sam Bailey and Coach Paul W. Bryant. Vincent also worked with the Senior Bowl for many years and officiated area High School football for a number of years.
Vincent is survived by his family.
The family would like to thank all caregivers, therapists, nurses, doctors and many others for their care, concern and most of all their prayers on our behalf. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Vincent's name to the Little Flower Catholic Church.
Friends and family are invited to a graveside service for Vincent on Thursday, September 26th at Pine Crest Funeral Home and Cemeteries on Dauphin Island Parkway at 11 am.
