Dulcie was the daughter of Mattie C. and Myrtle Meyer Gridcumb and the last survivor of his ten children. She and Herschel R. Ferguson were married 51 years. She was a 1933 graduate of Bosse High School. She worked at K Mart and supervised the toy department at S. S. Kresge Company. She attended Grace Southern Baptist Church. She lived in her later years with her granddaughter and her husband, Shannon and David White.
