Pearl Parkinson was born in Taylorville, Il., August 8, 1875, and departed this life Wednesday July 2, at the age of forty-eight years, eleven months and twenty-four days.

When she was but five years of age, her father died and four years later the mother followed, leaving the brothers and sisters alone. In 1887, she came to Iowa to make her home with relatives. On December 24, 1889, she was united in marriage to Clyde Melvin Harris, at Riverlawn farm. To this union were born twelve children.

She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, one son, Elmer, living near Benton and ten daughters. The daughters are: Edna Mae Smith, of Grassy Butte N.D.; Lela Alberta Blunck, of Redding; Alma Maud Carter, of Hanley; Eula Pearl German of Conception Junction, Mo.; Florence Eveline Scott, of Des Moines; Bessie Irene, Elsie Marie, Beulah Viona, Hazel Ruth and Anabelle Lucille left at home. There are also thirteen grandchildren and five brothers and sisters survive her. Hiram and Charley Parkison of Springfield, Il; G.E. Parkison of Selma, Ca; Mrs. Laura Jarvis of Clearfield and Mrs. Bessie Frankenpool of Creston, one brother Frank, preceded her in 1908.

She was a member of the M.E. Church of Benton and remained true to her faith till the end. On June 29, she entered the hospital in St. Joseph, Mo., and submitted to an operation, which proved fatal. Her husband and children were called to her bedside and all that medical science and loving care could do failed to relieve her intense suffering. She has had years of suffering and has mentioned many times that she was ready and willing to go. She was held in high esteem by all who knew her. Her loss to the family and community is great. We will miss her but she has gone to her reward.
