A retired Ethyl Corp. supervisor with 40 years of service and resident of Baker, he died at 3:20 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 1997, at Lane Memorial Hospital, Zachary. He was 71 and a native of East Baton Rouge Parish. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Visiting was held at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Visiting was held at the funeral home 10 a.m. until religious services at 2 p.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Ted Roeling of Baker Presbyterian Church.Interment in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Survived by wife, Vivian G. Dawson, Baker; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Oscar Southall, Baker; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Pam Dawson, Baton Rouge; a sister, Rae Lawson, Jackson; and three grandchildren, Kristi Lyn Southall, Oscar Kevin Southall and Chris Dawson. Preceded in death by parents, Carl and Elizabeth Dawson. Pallbearers will be Don Cockerham, Ralph Germany, Doc Stevens, Mike West, Bill Lawson, Kevin Southall, Chris Dawson and Cecil Kline. Honorary pallbearer is Milton Soulier. He was a member of Baker Masonic Lodge No. 441, F&AM and Baker Presbyterian Church
