Death Comes to Mrs. Ellis W. Bullock, Last Member of Prominent Family

Mrs. E.W. Bullock, 79 year old resident of Eastman, died at her home here Friday afternoon, June 21, at 2:30 of heart disease. She had been in ill health the past several years, but for the past few months her condition had remained critical.

Mrs. Bullock was the last remaining member of her immediate family, her sisters, Mrs. Mary Harrison, Miss Helen Bishop, Miss Emma Bishop, Mrs Carrie Bush, and brother Col. James Bishop, all preceding her to the grave several years ago.

She was a member of a prominent and influential family, the daughter of the late Judge James Bishop and Mary Guyton Bishop, pioneer citizens of this section.

Mrs. Bullock was the widow of the late E.W. Bullock, who preceding his death was a wealthy and influential Dooley County citizen.

Although she made occassional visits to her children in other sections, Mrs. Bullock remained close to her home. She lived not a secluded life, but one devoted to her immediate neighbors on whom she lavished her affection. She was kindly and neighborly, and a refined woman of high ideals.

During the later years she devoted herself to the care of her sisters, with whom she lived a large part of the time. The Bullocok or Bishop homeplace is known far and wide for its beauty. One of the oldest homes in the city, it has a multitude of beautiful flowers and shrubarry, and a large part of these ladies time was spent in caring for the grounds. Many Eastman homes have been made happier by their lovely gifts of beautiful blooms.

Mrs. Bullock was a native of Pulaski County, but she had resided here for the past forty years. She was a member of the Methodist church in which institution she was a faithful worker as long as health would permit.

Funeral services were conducted from the Eastman Methodist Church Saturday afternoon at 5 o'clock by the pastor, Rev. Lamar Wainwright and Rev. Max O'Neal. Organ music was rendered by Mrs. Charles Aldridge.

Pallbearers were W.J. Daniel, A.F.agan. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, with Nobles-Harrell Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Bullock is survived by four sons, James Bishop, Jr. of Macon; Ellis Bullock, of Birmingham; and Cary Bullock of Birmingham and Eastman; and Saxon Bullock, of Sarasota, Fla., all of whom, accompanied by members of their families, attended the funeral here Saturday.
