Helen M. Slack, of Marshall, Texas died Saturday, October 28, 2006 in Marshall, Texas, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Memorial services were held at 10:00a.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2006, at Sullivan-Hester Funeral Home Colonial Chapel with Dr. Pat Day and the Rev. Don Dodge officiating.

Helen Slack, 77, was born on a wheat farm near Boise City, Oklahoma, to Floyd and Bobbie (Bivins) Moore.

She attended Boise City Schools where she graduated as salutatorian in 1947, and went on to attend Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Oklahoma.

She spent most of her life in Oklahoma where she met and later married her childhood sweetheart, Herb Slack, on August 1, 1948 in Clayton, New Mexico.

Whe was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and a friend of many. She loved her family and friends and found joy and laughter in all her endeavors. She was blessed with many talents including being an accomplished musician, poet, artist and floral designer. She owned and operated her own floral shop in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

She relocated to Marshall, Texas in 1985 with her husband. She became active in community affairs and served as President of the Ingleside Club, a Texas Federated Women's Club and the Marshall Music Club. She also enjoyed shering her musical talents on the keyboard with others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a granddaughter Kelly, Andrews.

She is survived by her loving husband, Herb; two sons and their wives, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother and his wife, two sisters, and a brother-in-law

Her ashes will be buried in the family plot in the Kenton Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan-Heaster Funeral Home.

The family gratefully acknowledges and deeply appreciates the kind and tender care that Helen recieved at the Marshall Manor Nursing Home and Rehab Center over the years.
