THERESA STRUPP
(1856 - 1930)

Mrs. Peter Strupp, Sr., aged 73 years, passed away suddenly early today at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Teitgen, Marshall street, with whom she has been residing for the past few weeks. She came in from the homestead in the town of Newton two weeks ago, following an attack of illness, but had rallied and had been able to be up and about the house, partaking of a hearty supper last evening, before retiring. However, she suffered a stroke early this morning and passed away.

Her maiden name was Theresa Radej, and she was born in the town of Newton. She was married to Peter Strupp, Sr., 52 years ago, and he passed away a few months later. Mrs. Strupp has been making her home with her son Joseph on the Strupp homestead on Route 1, out of Manitowoc.

Four sons, Fred of Green Bay, Benjamin and Peter, Jr., of this city and Joseph, town of Newton, two daughters, Mrs. Arthur Teitgen, city, and Mrs. Paul Billings, Hart, Mich., two brothers, Carl and Adolph Radej of the town of Newton, and five sisters, Mrs. Nic Brachmann, city, Mrs. Kessler, Chicago, Mrs. Fred Bauer, Mrs. Herman Bruns, and Miss Bertha Radej, all of Newton survive. There are also four grandchildren.

The deceased was a member of the St. Theresa’s society of the St. Andrew’s congregation. Funeral services will take place Thursday morning at ten o’clock from the family homestead in the town of Newton.

Celebrate Golden Wedding

Sunday November 14, is the golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Strupp, and in observance of the event they will hold open house at their home, Route 2, during the afternoon and evening.

Half a century ago, Tressie Roedig (sic) of this city, became the bride of Peter Strupp at a ceremony performed at the St. Boniface church by Father W.J. Peil. Mr. Strupp was born in Germany, in 1847 and came to the states in 1849, his parents settling on a farm in Newton which he still operates. Mrs. Strupp was born in the town of Manitowoc in 1856. Six of their seven children are still living, one son Alvin having died in the war; the children are Mrs. Clara Billings of Hart, Mich., and Ferdinand, Benjamin, Peter, Joseph and Mrs. Arthur Teitgen of this city.

On Saturday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Strupp are entertaining relatives and friends at the Saenger Hall.
