He was born February 12, 1925 in Forsyth County to Ellis Luther and Emma Sparks Conrad.
He served with the U.S. Army during WWII and was retired from Hanes Dye and Finishing after 40 years service.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Augusta Spainhour Conrad, a twin sister; Emma Gray Rothrock, sisters; Sarah Slate and Beatrice Donathan, and one brother; Virgil Conrad.
He is survived by one son, E. R. Conrad, Jr. and wife Kathy; two grandsons, Lance Conrad and Jacob Conrad; one brother, Coy Conrad and wife Ernestine.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday September 28th at Slate Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
