Services for Robert "Bob" Daniel Magouirk, 84, of Whitehouse will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church Whitehouse with the Rev. Sherman Mayfield, Bro. Gary McDonald and Bro. Mark Norman officiating.
Burial will follow in Whitehouse Cemetery with military honors under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Magouirk passed away Sept. 25, 2013, under the care of The Hospice of East Texas.
Bob was born Jan. 28, 1929, in Dallas to Robert S. Magouirk and Lee Lamon Lilley.
Bob was a graduate of Carter Riverside High School in Fort Worth. He attended Bakersfield College in Bakersfield, Calif., and graduated from GMI in Flint, Mich. Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1953 and served overseas during the Korean War. He worked for La Gloria Oil and Gas and retired after 33 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church Whitehouse and lived a Christian life. Never seeking recognition, Bob loved helping others as he never met a stranger. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, working crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. Bob was a loving family man who cared for his family deeply.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother and stepfather E.K. Lilley.
Bob is survived by his loving family including his wife of 58 years, Billie "Sue" Campbell Magouirk, of Whitehouse; daughter, Cathy Lusk and husband Mike, of Mixon; son, David Magouirk and wife Denise, of Whitehouse; grandchildren, Lindsey Cope, Chad Patton, Casey Lusk, Maegan Hearon, Jessica Pace, Brandi Grosvenor and Morgan Magouirk; sister, Lurline Zabriskie and husband William, of Tyler; sisters-in-law, Betty Waters and husband John, and Carolyn Lofton and husband Bill; and brother-in-law, James Campbell and wife Candy. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Carpenter Class Sunday School, the deacons of First Baptist Church Whitehouse and the Korean War veterans.
Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
