Esther E. Luthi, 93, of Hawley, Minnesota, died peacefully, with her children at her side, on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at the Viking Manor Nursing Home, Ulen, Minnesota.

Esther was born November 28, 1919, to Alfred and Selma Anderson. She grew up with two sisters and a brother on a farm north of Hawley and attended country school. Esther was baptized and confirmed at Highland Grove Lutheran Church, where she remained an active member until its closing, at which time she became a part of the Hawley Alliance Church family.

On March 24, 1942, Esther married Edward Luthi at the Highland Grove Lutheran Church parsonage. They made their home on a farm North of Hawley, where they raised their family, three sons and a daughter. Esther was a devoted wife and loving mother. Her family was her pride and joy. Esther was a 4-H leader, Sunday school teacher, member of the church choir and various other women's ministries. She enjoyed acting and loved participating in various church comedy skits. Esther was fun-loving and full of hospitality. She welcomed all who came to her door. After their retirement on the farm, Esther enjoyed working at Carl's Lefse in Hawley, where she even wrote and sang a song about the antics and fun times at the Lefse plant.

Edward and Esther enjoyed traveling throughout their years, especially after their retirement. In 1994, Esther and Edward moved off the farm and built a house in Hawley. They celebrated 64 years of marriage before Edward passed away in 2006. On September 24, 2013, Esther went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; infant son, David; daughter-in-law, Lori; two sisters and a brother.

She is survived by three sons, Vergil (Adrienne) Luthi, Hitterdal, MN, Michael (LaVaye) Luthi, Hawley, MN, and Paul Luthi, Moorhead, MN; one daughter, Kay (Bob) Aldrich, Hawley, MN; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

We her family are very grateful to God for giving us such a wonderful mom, grandma and great-grandma.
