He was born in Garrett, PA on Nov. 30, 1896, the son of the late JOHN and IDA BOCKES.
He was a well-known furniture manager and owner, associated with the Woodward and Wright Furniture Co. in Brownsville.
He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Akron, Ohio Masonic Lodge and a WWI veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife, KATHRYN MINNICK BOCKES in 1978.
Surviving are two daughters, SHIRLEY BURDETT adn MRS. ROSALIE GEORGE; one son, KEITH BOCKES, two sisters, MRS. IRENE E. FRANTZ and MRS. MYRTLE B. DANVORD; and one brother, DAVID HOFFERT.
Burial in LaFayette Memorial Park under the direction of the J.W. Kisinger Funeral Home.
