Mary Victoria Liepe, daughter of Napoleon Bonaparte Liepe, was born in McKenzie, Tennessee on July 21st 1891. She was educated in Nashville and attended Vanderbilt University and graduated from Columbia University in New York.
On Jun 17th 1918, Mary married Paul Gaston Gamble, a young medical student she met at Vanderbilt. While Paul was serving in the war in Europe, Mary taught at Vassar University in New York. Upon his return, they moved to Greenville; where Paul started a hosiptal with his elder brother, Dr. Hugh Agnew Gamble.
Mary and Paul Gamble had two known children: Paul Gaston, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth.
