Maywood Earl Bails was a son and one of five children of Samuel O. Bails 1856 – 1898 and Hannah Chase Bails 1856 – 1923 of Ohio. He was born in Athens County, Ohio. Maywood's father Samuel died in March of 1898 in Vanderhoof, Athens, Ohio at age 42 leaving his mother, Hannah, a young widow and in the 1900 US Census she was raising her five children by herself.
He married Blanche Noyes in 1908 and in 1910 they were living with her father Alonzo, a farmer and now a widower in Galena, Woods, Oklahoma. By 1930 Maywood was farming on his own in Mc Kinley, Woods, Oklahoma. Blanche and Maywood were blessed with five chidren: Everett Samuel Bails 1909 – 1985 Ralph Bails 1915 – Garnett Bails 1916 – 1943 Vivian Geneva Bails 1918 – 2003 and Juanita Bails 1920 – . Maywood died in 1952 at the age of 67 and Blanche survived him as his widow for 25 years when she died on the 8th of February in 1977 in Cherokee, Alfalfa, Oklahoma at the age of 94.
