Andrew was born in Washington Township [there is no drop down for this on Find-A-Grave] near New Franklin.

Andrew left Ohio when he was 18 years of age, moving to Illinois. There he was a hired farm hand and attended high school. In the winter of 1879 - 80, Mr DeHoff taught school at Loran Stevenson County Illinois. In the winter of 1880 - 81 he taught in a adjoining school district. Andrew returned to Stark County about four years later and taught in a country school.

On June 3rd 1883 Mr DeHoff married Miss Mary Ellen Stonehill, daughter of Isaac and Eliza Clark Stonehill. On March 30th 1884 the couple had a son, Isaac Edwin. He lived for five and a half months, dying September 14th 1884. Mary died April 04 1884, aged 27 years 11 months 25 days. Mother and son are interred in Mapleton Cemetery in Osnaburg Township Stark County Ohio in a plot shared by Mary's parents.

Several years after the death of his wife and son Andrew moved west to Colorado, buying 160 acres west of Pueblo. Andrew again taught school. Four years later, he returned to Stark County. During the summer months he attended school at Ada and at Mount Union in Alliance Stark County Ohio.

On April 20th 1892, Andrew married Miss Mary Ann Sheaffer, daughter of Paul and Margaret Ralston Sheaffer of New Berlin [now North Canton]. The couple had no children.

Andrew was appointed superintendent of Canton Schools in 1894 and in 1898 was principle of West North School. West North School was located next to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in downtown Canton; closing in the 1950s. He was also principle of Clarendon, Cedar and Henry S. Martin; all elementary schools. Anthony remained with the Canton school system until his retirement in 1928.

After his retirement, Mr and Mrs DeHoff traveled. They visited every state in the union, Canada, Mexico, Alaska and the Hawaiian Islands. Mrs. DeHoff predeceased Andrew by four years.

Andrew was president of the DeHoff Reunion from its organization in 1895 to his death.

The DeHoff home was bequeathed to the Canton Public Library to be used as a library branch. The Dehoff Memorial Branch used this home until 2001 when the 'new' branch was constructed. The outside of this branch of the Stark County District Library looks like a very fine residence from the outside and is located at 216 Hartford Avenue South East in Canton.
