Ottibien Burns Dies at Farm Home Monday
Funeral to be Held at Shelly Mortuary on Thursday.

Ottibien Burns, prominent farmer of near Manchester, died at his home Monday evening, Oct. 25, 1943, after a week's illness. Funeral services will be held at the Shelly funeral home Thursday at 2:30 p. m. in charge of the Rev. John G. Snapp of the Baptist church. Burial will be made in Oakland cemetery here.

A son of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Burns, he was born in Bureau county, Illinois, March 2, 1875, and grew to manhood there. He was married to Miss Lula Griffin at Morrison, Ill., July 6, 1906, and they later came to Delaware county, and for 35 years have resided on a farm southwest of Manchester.

Surviving Mr. Burns are his widow and the following children; Vernon H., Merle D. and Dolan O. Burns and Mrs. Mae Miller, of Manchester; Howard L. of Kansas City, Mo., and Marwan L., in the United States coast guard in Alaska; also two sisters, Mrs. Susan McLaughlin of Sterling, Ill., and Mrs. Asa Klick of Manchester one brother, Homer H. Burns, of Tampico, Ill.; and eight grandchildren.

Mr. Burns was a hard working farmer held in the highest esteem by neighbors and friends. His passing brings a great sorrow to the wife and children, and sincere sympathy is extended them.
