Leola Mae Olsen Loutensock, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and neighbor passed away at her home in West Jordan on May 27, 1994.

Born December 31, 1921 in Salt Lake City, a daughter of Rudolf Theodore Olsen and Lenora Whitby. She was raised in Pocatello, Idaho with her six brothers and enjoyed a rich musical experience in her high school years at Pocatello High School, soloing with the school choir and girls sextet. She sang lead in her school operetta "Swetthearts". After high school graduation she went to California to pursue further voice training. She sang lead roles in the "Deseret Song" with the Desert Players in Victorville, California. She spent many years singing for church, community, and school functions. As a wife she loved and supported her husband in his educational, professional and spiritual pursuits. She found great joy in serving with him in the Jordan River LDS Temple. As her husband served as a counselor in the temple presidency with Elder H. Burke Peterson she was privileged to be an assistant temple matron with Sister Brookie Peterson from 1985 to 1987.

She cherished her callings in the LDS Church, serving as her ward Relief Society president twice, a counselor in her stake Relief Society presidency, a teacher, a temple worker and always showing compassion and love in her service to others. She was a loving and caring friend to all.

She married Hyrum William Loutensock, Jr. of Glendale, California in Carlsbad, New Mexico on February 3, 1945, with the marriage solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on April 23, 1945. Together they enjoyed a rich and fulfilling life full of love for one another. Her husband preceded her in death six months earlier on November 26, 1993. Both passed away of cancer.

As a mother she bore five children, four of which have preceded her in death. She was a loving mother, always putting the needs of her children before her own. She loved her children and grandchildren very much. She always encouraged them to succeed in whatever they did.

She is survived by her son David W. Loutensock, his wife Dorothy, and her five grandchildren: David N., Shawn, Eric, Joseph, and Jennifer of West Jordan. Also survived by a foster daughter, Virginia Andrews of Salt Lake City, and her two children Stacie Webb and Rick Cannon. Also survived by five of her six brothers: Ronald T. Olsen, Salmon, Idaho; Orval W. Olsen and Rex W. Olsen, Pocatello, Idaho; James L. Olsen and Mas W. Olsen, Castro Valley, California.

She went with a glad heart and looked forward to a grand reunion with her husband and four children: Stephen, Kathleen, Cathy Lynn, and Paula who have all preceded her in death.
