Frances Childers Burnett, 85 of Marion went home to be with the Lord Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Hospice of Rutherford County. Born in McDowell County, October 5, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Tobe and Glennie McKinney Childers. Known for her garden and sewing, and her past time, took pleasure in reading. She was a member of Hicks Chapel Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence J. Burnette; one brother Harold Childers. Left to cherish her memories are her son, Kelly Burnette and wife, Brenda of Marion; one daughter, Pat Epley and husband Eddie, of Marion; two brothers, Jack Childers and wife, Mary of Marion and Roger Childers and wife, Patsy, of Nebo; two grandchidren, Sarah Burnette, of Marion and Michael Gibson and wife, Wendy, of Marion; four great-grandchildren, and a Sister-in-law, Shirley Childers, of Nebo, also survive. A funeral service will be held today (Tuesday,May 14), at 2pm prior to the service,at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, P.O.Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043. Westmoreland Funeral Home is asisting the family with arrangements.
