Charlie Knox, who was born in SC, moved to Texas with his family when he was very young. During WWI, he served as a Cpl. in Co. H, 142nd Infantry, 36th Division, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He married Carrie Jones, daughter of William Jones. They were living in Quanah, Hardeman County, at the time of the 1920 and 1930 censuses, but moved to New Mexico before 1940, where they remained.
