Mr. Preston Barber, 63, died Friday, Sept. 19, 1997, at his residence.
The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Bill Henderson and Charles Elder officiating. Burial will be in Screven County Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Barber, a native of Bulloch County, was a retired superintendent of yarn finishing at B.A.S.F. Fibers. He had served in the Army, was a member of the Sylvania Lions Club and had served as president and chairman of Special Olympics.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Sapp Barber; two sons, Tony Preston Barber, Goldsboro, N.C., and Stephen ''Bo'' Barber, San Francisco; one daughter, Cindy B. Reed, Atlanta; two brothers, Billy Barber and Melvin Barber, Statesboro; three sisters, Kate Huffstickler, Savannah, Bobbie Vic, Augusta, and Mildred Brinson, Statesboro; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bill Tyre, Marion Anderson, Roy Thompson, Gary Baxley, Everett Jennings, Max Browning and Ken Austin.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Sylvania Lions Club, the Bob Howard Sunday School Class and deacons of First Baptist Church.
Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
