He was born Dec. 25, 1914, in Brockett, Ark. to Trumie and Dixie Johnston Harper. On Sept. 12, 1934, he married Lois E. Crenshaw, who survives.
He had been a resident of Mississippi County since 1858. A retired farmer, he was employed as Mississippi County highway engineer for eight years until retirement in 1975. He was a member of Bridges United Methodist Church.
Also surviving are daughters, Mrs. Don Robertson, Mrs. Allen Mays, Mrs. John Carrigan, Mrs. Tom Baker, Mrs. Larry Loomis and Mrs. Vic Anderson; sons, Galen and Charles Harper; brothers, Rex, Hulen, Weldon and Leland Harper; a sister, Mrs. Robert Conner; and 18 grandchildren.
A sister and a grandchild preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday at McMikle Funeral Home here with burial in the IOOF Cemetery near here.
