Ida Walsh of Sutter Creek, Calif., passed away Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Sutter Memorial Hospital, in Sacramento, at the age of 88. She was born in Sutter Creek on September 11, 1925 to the late Nicolas and Guillerma (Sanabria) Garcia. Ida was born on the Garcia family ranch in Sutter Creek, attended local schools and graduated from Sutter Creek High School in 1943.

While working at the Box Factory, in Toyon, she met her future husband, Ralph. The couple was married in August of 1945. She was vice president and bookkeeper for Ralph Walsh Trucking. Ida was dedicated to raising her family. She was influential in the raising of her grandchildren and would be seen babysitting her great-grandchildren just a week ago. Ida was a member of Native Daughters of the Golden West. She is survived by her daughter, Delia Harder and her husband, Bill, of Sutter Creek; sons, Ralph Walsh, of San Andreas, Calif., John Walsh, of Sutter Creek; sister, Carmen Rossetto, of Roseville, Calif.; brother, Nick Garcia, of Sutter Creek; grandchildren, Amanda Gamboa, Alicia Youmans, Jeremiah Harder and Joshua Harder; great-grandchildren, Makenna Gamboa and Lucas Gamboa; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband in December 1969, when he was tragically killed in a car accident. Ida was also preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph Garcia and William Garcia; sisters, Delia Garcia, Isabelle Martinez, Mary Bustillos and Hortensia Garcia.

Friends are invited to attend a vigil at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 115 Amelia in Sutter Creek, at 6 p.m., on Tuesday, September 17, 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 10 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Jackson Catholic Cemetery in Jackson, Calif. Memorial contribution may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
