John G. Stanley, 84, died at his residence. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and Infantry during World War II. He retired after 30 years of service as a rural mail carrier and he founded John Stanley Business Forms in 1964. He was a deacon of First Baptist Church, a member of the Lafayette Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star Chapter 225. He served on the Onslow County Parks and Recreation Commission as well as the City Parks and Recreation Department for the City of Jacksonville. Mr. Stanley coached Pony League for the city of Jacksonville, winning the state championship in 1958. He was preceded in death by his father, George Allen Stanley and his mother, Bessie Meadows Stanley; two brothers, Leslie Bell Stanley and Mitchell Hugh Stanley; and one sister, Hilda Stanley Rawls. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Katie Harris Stanley; one daughter, Candy Stanley Joyner and her husband, Charlie Joyner; two grandsons, Jon and Bobby Joyner; and one sister, Estel Stanley Silance of Jacksonville. Burial with military honors and Masonic rites.
