He had lived in Sanford since 1948. He was graduated from Bayside High School, Long Island, NY and attended Bowdoin College, Class of 1950, where he was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity.
He was a Navy veteran of WW2.
He was the first manager of the original Goodall-Sanford showrooms, and in 1955 he established the first Seamloc Mill Store. In 1958 he joined his father in the management of the Sanford Sales Room and Carpet Center and continued as owner and manager until his death. He was a member of the Sanford-Springvale Merchants Association and the Chamber of Commerce. he was a member of the North Parish Congregational Church.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Sayward Dudgeon of Sanford, ME; two daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Anne) Waterhouse of Biddeford, ME; and Mrs. Bruce (Elizabeth) Knight of Sanford, ME; his mother of Sanford, ME; two brothers, Edward K. Dudgeon of Miami OK and Master Sgt Robert S Dudgeon of Sparta WI and 2 grandchildren.
