Aulda Corbin was born in 1803 in Vermont to David Elwood Corbin and Margaret Briggs, who died giving her birth.

She married Nathaniel King in 1819 in Eden, Erie, New York, and the couple started their family there. They moved to Cass County, Michigan before 1850 but by 1856 were living in Buchanan County, Iowa, where they remained for the rest of their lives.
