Thomas Jefferson Baldridge

Thomas Jefferson Baldridge Sr a leading citizen of Apollo died at his home Tuesday evening of last week. He was 68 years old.

Born the son of William P. and Margaret Hill Baldridge May 7, 1866, Thomas Jefferson Baldridge ccame to Apollo from Blairsville while yet a young man. He conducted a store on Warren avenue for a number of years later purchasing the Apollo News-Record of which he became editor.

In 1918 his son S. S. Baldridge took charge of the News-Record weekly and Mr. Baldridge entered the employ of the Apollo Steel Co as its paymaster. He remained with that organization until nine years ago when his health failed him and forced his retirement.

He was founder and teacher Emeritus of the Baldridge Men's Bible class of Apollo Methodist church and one of Apollo's leading and most highly respected citizens.

Surviving is his wife Mrs. Lillie M. Jack Baldridge and five children: S. S. Baldridge, editor of the Apollo News-Record and borough burgess; Eugene Baldridge of Pittsburgh; Mrs. Margaret Meyers of Minnesota, Thomas J. and Dudley R. Baldridge of Apollo. Eight grandchildren also survive.
