This was Malinda Waller Colvin's 2nd marriage. Her 1st marriage was to James W. Duvall, 24 July, 1848. (See record image.) On her headstone, both men are named, but no other details are provided. Malinda's two sons by James were Prometheus W. Duvall (1853-1899) and Daniel B. Duvall (1857-1912) Both sons are identified as is James as their father in the Early Birth Records of the E.E. Barton Papers. In addition, both Daniel and his brother can be found with their mother -- now head of household -- in the 1870 Census, Falmouth, Pendleton County, Kentucky. Among her nearest neighbors is her brother, Prometheus William Colvin, ("P.W." Colvin in the census.) and his wife and family. Further, Daniel B. Duvall is found in the household of Robert Best in the 1880 census, of Coles County, Illinois, identified as his "step-son". Also in the household, is Alice "Allie" Best, Robert's 20-year-old daughter from his 1st marriage. Marriage and birth record sources: E.E.
