Daris Dallas Deskins

Mr. Daris Dallas Deskins, age 78, of Willoughby, Ohio, died Friday, September 9, 2005 at his residence following a two year illness. He was born April 25, 1927 in Marvin, Virginia and was a son of the late Cloyd & Jennie (nee Ratliff) Deskins. He resided in Lake County, Ohio since 1974, and prior to that resided in Ashtabula County, Ohio since 1955. He was a veteran and served in the US Army from February 1946 to February 1947. He was employed by RIC Fibers and by Diamond Shamrock. He was also the Maintenance Supervisor at Willo Grove Apartments and retired in 1992. After retirement he continued to work part time at Willo Grove Apartments. He attended Calvary Assembly for eight years and was a former member of the Church of God.


He will be remembered for his kindness, his patience, his love for his family and for his love of the Lord Jesus Christ. Mr. Deskins enjoyed traveling, hiking, climbing Pike's Peak in Colorado, reading his Bible and praying.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Ann Deskins in 1948; two brothers, Ralph & Otis Deskins; three sisters, Lydia VanDyke, Myrtle Sisk & Margie Deskins.


He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Madeline (nee Hylton); two daughters, Patricia "Patty" Sutter & husband Robert of Elyria, OH & Connie Deskins & husband Mark O'Donnell of Colorado Springs, CO; three grandsons, one great grandson, two sisters, Edith McGlothlin of Madison, OH & Gaylene Horn of Cedar Bluff; and by many nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff, Virginia with Rev. Carlton King officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Family & friends will serve as pallbearers. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Veterans Honor Guard Association.


The family will receive friends from 12 noon - 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, Virginia.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 E. 185th Street, Cleveland, OH 44119.
