Francis J. Buckley Jr., 68, of Canonsburg, died Friday, September 2, 2005, in Donnell House, Washington.

He was born February 2, 1937, in Canonsburg, a son of Francis J. Sr. and Elizabeth J. McCready Buckley.

Mr. Buckley was a self-employed insurance agent in Canonsburg for many years.

He was a 1955 graduate of Canonsburg High School and a 1959 graduate of Notre Dame University with a business administration degree.

Mr. Buckley was a member of St. Patrick Church in Canonsburg, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, serving from 1957 to 1962, and a member of Canonsburg Borough Council from 1967 to 1974.

He was a former member of Canonsburg Jaycees, Chamber of Commerce, Washington Country Club and Rolling Hills Country Club.

On November 28, 1959, he married Penny Gibson, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Susan Budd and husband Matt of St. Louis, Mo., and Elizabeth Vernau of Houston; a son, Francis (Jay) Buckley III and wife Elizabeth of Cecil Township; seven grandchildren, Michael and Lauren Budd, Stephanie, Kellie and Andrew Vernau and Colleen and Daniel Buckley; a brother, David Buckley of Houston; and a sister, Jayne Guthrie of Bethel Park.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Bogan Funeral Homes Inc., 164 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, in St. Patrick Church, Canonsburg. Interment will follow in Woodruff Memorial Park, North Strabane Township.
