AKA Jacob Wetterhold, Weatherholt, Wetherholt, Wetherhold
Jacob and Susanna had (known to me) children : Jacob , Susanna Christina, and Catharina Barbara.

From the Papers of Benjamin Franklin, Vol 6
In 1763 the muster role states that he was born in Germany,36 years old,5 feet 7 inches tall, round faced, brown hair, and brown eyes. Known as a courageous and daring officer in fighting Indians, Wetterholt died of wounds, Oct 9, 1763.

Both Jacob and his brother, Nicholas, entered the military service shortly after their arrival to America. Their names and deeds are mentioned many times in historic records and books about the colony.

Johann Jacob was commissioned a lieutenant in Major Parson's town guard on December 21, 1755 and was promoted to captain on Sept. 21, 1756. He was a man of great courage and believed that he could not be killed by bullets (German term for this belief is Kugelfest). The brothers operated in the same general area and had the same rank after Sept. 21, 1756.

Johann Jacob Wetterholt was killed by the Indians. They raided the Inn where the soldiers were staying and Jacob was shot on the 8th of October 1763 and died the next day on the 9th at the Crown Inn. He was buried on the 10th in the graveyard in S Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
