Donald R. Dunlap, 79, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2013, in Graham.

A memorial service will be held Friday, September 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church, Graham. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Don was born in Megargel, Texas to Byron Luke and Zela Frances Dunlap. In 1954, he married June Elizabeth Reynolds at the First United Methodist Church in Bryson, Texas.

After graduating from Bryson High School he attended the University of North Texas in Denton, where he received a Bachelor of Science in 1958, a Masters of Education in 1963, and a Doctor of Education in 1973. In 1988, he was named an outstanding alumnus by the University's School of Education.

Most of Don's career in education was spent with the Plano Independent School District, where he began as a teacher in 1965. After two years in the classroom he served many years as an elementary school principal and later became the Assistant Superintendent for Personnel.

Family members who survive him are his wife, June Elizabeth Dunlap; daughter, Teresa Austin and her husband Ski; and granddaughter, Hayley June Austin; brother, Darrell Dunlap; sisters, Joan Mathis and husband, Rex and Patsy Glascock and husband Elvis; sisters-in-law, Billye Hartman and Judy Robertson and husband, Stan.

Memorials may be made to Young County Humane Society or charity of choice.
