Herman is a son of:
Joh. Henr. KOTTERHEINRICH (b. June 9, 1793 at Ladbergen, Germany, and d. August 19, 1855 at N.Knoxville) and Anna Maria Elsabein FERLEMANN (b. November 18, 1792 at Ladbergen, Germany, and d. October 30, 1857 at N. Knoxville).

Herman immigrated in 1845 with wife and dau., Marie El. Lived in Cincinnati first, then bought 80 acres in Sec. 21, 2 km northeast of New Knoxville.

1923 History of Auglaize Co., pg. 423 & 424:
J. H. Lutterbeck married Anna Katterheinrich who was born in Washington township and is a daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Niemeyer) Katterheinrich, who came here from Cincinnati some time following their immigration from Germany, where they were married, and who became well-to-do farming people in Washington township. Of their ten children, four are still living, Mrs.
Lutterbeck having a sister, Lena, and two brothers, Henry and Herman Katterheinrich.

Below is a transcription of the will of H. H. Katterheinrich:

Application for Probate of Will
Your petitioner respectfully represents that H. H. Katterheinrich, late a resident of the township of Washington in said County, died on or about the 23rd day of October A.D. 1906, leaving an instrument of writing, herewith produced, purporting to be his last Will and Testament.
Will recorded 14 Nov 1906, Auglaize Co., Will Book Vol. 7, pg. 580:
Last Will and Testament
In the name of the Benevolent Father of All, Amen:
I, Herman Henry Katterheinrich, of the township of Washington, County of Auglaize and State of Ohio, in the age of sixty one year, and of good and sound mind and memory, do make publish and declare this as my last Will and Testament, in the manner following:
Item 1st: It is my will that all just claims against me, shall be paid in full, out of my estate:
Item 2nd: I give, devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Sophia Elisabeth Katterheinrich, all the Personal Property, and Real Estate of any description whatsoever, during her natural life, but if she should intermarry , again, then she shall only be entitled to such portion as the law of our State of Ohio allows to widows, but nevertheless, my said wife shall not have the power and authority to sell any of my real estate:
Item 3rd: I give, devise and bequeath to my children, payable after my and my wife's decease, the following sums to viz:
To my daughter, Maria (married Wm. Settlage) the sum of One Hundred and twenty five dollars ($125.00).
To my daughter, Elisabeth (married Ernst Schroer) the sum of One Hundred and twenty five dollars ($125.00).
To my son William Katterheinrich the sum of One Hundred and twenty five dollars ($125.00).
To my daughter Sophia (married Hy Kuhlman) the sum of One Hundred and fifty dollars ($150.00).
To my daughter Anna (married Henry Lutterbeck) the sum of One Hundred and fifty dollars ($150.00).
To my son Henry Katterheinrich the sum of One Hundred and twenty five dollars ($125.00).
To my daughter Magdalena Katterheinrich the sum of Two Hundred dollars ($200.00).
Item 4th: I give, devise and bequeath over to my son Herman Katterheinrich all the balance of my Personal Property, and Real Estate, which may be left unencumbered after my and my wife's decease, to be his own forever, but he must pay all the legal debts, sums specified to each heir in Item No. Three (3) and must also after my decease keep and provide for his mother Sophia Elisabeth Katterheinrich during her lifetime in a husband-like manner.
Item 5th: I do hereby nominate and appoint my son Herman Katterheinrich as Executor of this my last Will and testament but he shall give bond according to law as such Executor. I desire that no appraisement and sale of my Personal Property be made, and that the Court of Probate may grant the omission of the same. I do hereby revoke all former Wills by me made.
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Thirteenth day of October A.D. 1886.

The said H. H. Katterheinrich died leaving no widow surviving him but the following named persons his only next of kin to wit:
Daughters: Elizabeth Schroer, Anna Lutterbeck, Magdalene Eversman. Sons: William, Henry and Herman Katterheinrich.
Grandchildren: Henry Settlage (Holyoke, Mass.), Wm. Settlage, Sarah Elshoff, Caroline Geiger, Anna Eversman, Matilda Wagner, Lizzie Hoge, Flora Katterheinrich, Pauline Settlage.
