Maddox was born in Chilton County on June 13, 1935, the son of the late Leonard and Lois Price Maddox. He was a printer. He died on July 16, 2000, at Briarcliff Nursing Home. Survivors include his wife, Lorene Maddox, Thorsby; three sons, Horace W. Maddox, Jr., Verbena, Jimmy Maddox, Thorsby, Jeffery Maddox, Clanton; two sisters, Pearl Bice, Clanton, and Polly Jones, Birmingham; one brother, Vernon Maddox, Clanton; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
